About Us

About Us

Our Mission

To inspire and enable young people, especially those who need us the most, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring individuals.
Our Vision
We embrace a unique approach that values young people and believes youth can act to build their own futures. Our stakeholders will facilitate opportunities for youth and adults to develop relationships, and share in making and implementing decisions to enhance the health of our community. Through experiential learning we will create an atmosphere to help youth gain positive views of themselves in the world, develop skills, and share their unique gifts with the community, We will establish an enduring organization that transcends any individual and is viewed as a gem in the community.

Our Club

The Boys & Girls Club of Carbon County began our mission in 1994. In our first year we served 40 youth at the Red Lodge Clubhouse. Today, we've expanded our reach to serve over 300 youth and our membership continues to grow.
In the fall of 2012, we opened a Clubhouse Unit in Roberts. We work with the kids their in the afterschool hours, providing homework assistance, games and activities, and educational resources about mind, body, and spirit balance.

Our Programs

The Boys & Girls Club of Carbon County seeks to enhance the lives of our community’s youth through meaningful programs and opportunities in a safe and controlled environment. We provide programs at our Red Lodge and Roberts locations in five areas as defined by the Boys & Girls Club of America – Education & Career, Character & Leadership, Health & Life Skills, the Arts, and Sports, Fitness & Recreation.
While we run many BGCA national programs such as SMART Moves – an education and prevention program designed to encourage youth to make wise, safe and healthy decisions – we also provide many locally developed and unique enrichment opportunities for our Club kids. Some of our Club’s most popular and successful locally developed programs include:

  • Blades Ice Skating Program (winter only)
  • Gardening in the Youth Garden
  • Guitar Lessons
  • Homework Help & Tutoring
  • Kids in the Kitchen Cooking Class
  • Robotics, 3D Imaging & Modeling
  • Rock Climbing (on very own indoor climbing wall!)
  • Sewing & Crafts
  • Summer Camps (we offer more than 35 different camp opportunities during the summer!)
  • Weekly Team Building & Engineering Challenges
We are also fortunate to work with a variety of other local and state organizations such as The Willows Assisted Living Facility and the Beartooth Humane Alliance, both of Red Lodge, and Montana Supporting Soldiers in Helena, MT to help create exceptional community service opportunities for our youth to participate in. Furthermore, we have developed relationships with other local organizations like the Yellowstone Wildlife Sanctuary in Red Lodge and Tippet Rise Art Center in Fishtail, MT to provide unique and engaging educational experiences for our Club Kids.

Finally, we provide healthy snacks and meals to our members at no additional cost. In 2015 we served more than 6,000 snacks and meals to Club kids, and we are on track to exceed this number in 2016.
